- This digital system is part of Indonesia’s effort to modernize border control and enhance the arrival experience. Whether you’re exploring Jakarta’s vibrant cityscape, uncovering Yogyakarta’s ancient temples, or enjoying the beaches of Bali, completing the ECD in advance ensures a smoother and faster entry at customs.

Do You Need to Complete Indonesia’s Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD)?
The Indonesia Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) is mandatory for all travelers entering Indonesia by air, sea, or land. Whether you're visiting Bali, Jakarta, or any other destination, completing the ECD is essential—even for short stays or returning Indonesian citizens.
The system was first introduced for international airports and has since expanded nationwide. You must fill out the ECD within 2 days prior to arrival. It covers customs information such as items brought, currency, and restricted goods.
As of June 2024, all international passengers, including those from ASEAN countries, must submit the ECD online to avoid delays during customs clearance on arrival in Indonesia.
